I don't know of a way for FCPX to trigger a restart of your computer; it's just not really very likely. That doesn't mean it's not happening but I doubt FCPX is the real issue. Head over to the forum dedicated to your MacBook model and search for restart issues. Sorry not to be able to offer an easy solution.

To ask again, have you ever been able to run FCP on your MBP without your machine crashing?
