Q: My apple TV is not appearing in my itunes.

My apple TV was having internet issues recently and was not connecting to the internet via an ethernet cord. I switched the settings to wireless, and it worked fine for one day.     Make sure you are following the steps exactly (unplug all cables, connect micro usb, if using a 3rd gen reconnect power)

    Connect directly to computer not a keyboard port or USB hub. Try a different cable

    A small but significant factor - make sure the Mac/PC that you are connecting your Apple TV to has Internet connectivity. The restore or update process invloves a verification process.

    I had the same issue.  It worked when I connected the microusb to the AppleTV first, then connected it to the PC without power and with iTunes installed and open. Windows downloaded the drivers and installed it.  I added power last.

     

    ITunes immediately displayed the Apple TV recovery options.
