Q: Deleted all .kext files and now my macbook pro would not switch on. What do I need to do?

By mistake I deleted all .kext files in the extensions folder and now the macbook will not go past the error screen at the start up with panic kernel. What do I need to do? How do I restore from back up drive or even re install OS???

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Are you able to get into Recovery Mode (Command+R) at startup?

If your back up is a Time Machine back up you can boot from it by restarting while holding the Option key and select the back up drive. From there you can reinstall OS X Mavericks or Restore.

Thanks keg55. I didnt know how to get the recovery mode to come on. This solved the problem for me. Thanks again
