I want to connect the ipod to the dock of a hifi with lightning.
In this case, the radio of ipod should work or not given that the earbuds are not connected? If not there is any way to solve the problem?

iPod nano, iOS 8.1.3, 7th gen.
The headphone cord connected to the Nano acts as the antenna you can only use FM with headphones or by using an auxiliary cord from the headset jack into a device.
so I understand that's mandatory a "cord" to be connected to the jack, otherwise the radio should not work since it has no antenna!

I suppose it should be a question that the engineers of apple must reply with the next gen!!
This is the same issue I found out recently. Apple engineers need to work on this....so the radio will work with Bluetooth. Very disappointing .I would have reconsidered buying the Nano if I knew this earlier.
There is nothing for the engineers to work on. The cable on wired headphones serves as the antenna for radio reception.

Apple engineers are very good but, as of yet, haven't figured out how to circumvent the laws of physics.
