Q: iTunes Error 7 (Windows error 193)

First I know there are multiple threads on this.

I am running W7 64-bit. Every time I try to install ITune I get an Error 7 (Windows error 193) upon completion ( and another pop up that says 'iTunes helper was not installed'). During the installation process I get a message that Apple Mobile Device Service was unable to start. To which I select 'Ignore'

Having read various threads on my problem I have

1) Gone to Windows Update and checked I have the latest updates.

2) Ensured I have the latest .NET Framework ( 4.5.2)

3) Uninstalled all Apple S/ware ( in the order recommended) except Safari. I also deleted any remaining Folders in Program Data, Program Files & Program Files (x86)

4) Run scan disc

5) Tried installs, after repeating (3) with my anti-virus s/ware switched off but I still get the same failure.

Any other suggestions?

Oh, and I also select 'Run as Administrator for the installation

I finally got iTunes 11.1.3.8 to install by uninstalling everything listed above - rebooting where necessary and then going into the registery and removing

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls] "C:\\Program Files\\iPod\\bin\\iPodService.exe"=dword:80000000

before installation of 11.1.3.8. (don't reboot after removal)

I found that tip here iTunes Error 7 (Windows error 127) after installing iTunes 64-bit for Windows

I got the 127 error after trying an 11.1.3.8 install with that key in the registery

I still couldn't get the latest version of iTunes to install after removing that registery key.

When you right-click where? If you install 7-Zip then it should integrate with Windows Explorer.

I Downloaded the a version of itunes from the listen of older versions. I went to my list of downloads to install. That is the point in which I right clicked. 7 zip did not appear.

DDid the 7 zip. They installed until i got to the apple. apple mobile device.
FAiled to to start, verify you have have sufficient privileges to start services

Try again, right-clicking on the installer and selecting the Run as Administrator option.

Try the MS Installer Fixit, or if you have a 64-bit system try the "for older video cards" version.

I Uninstalled everything in the order suggested. Downloaded version 12.01.26 into 7 zip and installed each component individually. It worked and all my music was there. Thanks, you've been a big help.

This is the only fix that will work on windows 7 or 10. I worked hard for the past 6 moths doing everything this will work .

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32.
Locate the msvcr100.dll file.
Make sure that the file name is exactly msvcr100.dll. If you’re unable to locate msvcr100.dll, do not continue with these steps and do not move other files from this folder.
Drag the msvcr100.dll to the desktop. When prompted, click Continue.
After you drag the file to the desktop, try performing a repair on both installed versions of Apple Application Support (64 and 32-bit) in the Control Panel (iTunes requires both versions of Apple Application Support):
Click Apple Application Support 32-bit to select it.
Right-click Apple Application Support 32-bit to open the shortcut menu.
Select ‘Repair’ and complete the Repair Wizard.
Perform the same steps for Apple Application Support 64-bit.
Try to launch iTunes.
If there's still an issue, download a new copy of the iTunes installer.
Completely remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components from your computer. Then, reinstall iTunes.
If you still see the messages, restart your computer and try to launch iTunes again. If iTunes launches correctly, place the msvcr100.dll in the Recycle Bin and then empty the Recycle Bin.
If there's still an issue, contact Apple Support for more help.
