Getting error "the iPhone could not be restored unknown error(9)," all software up to date, itunes able to extract software from phone, restarted several times, error comes up when "waiting for iphone," could this be a battery issue? Any help appreciated.

My iPhone 4s had been dying fairly quickly before this became a problem, and then was stuck on an infinite start up loop, so I put it into recovery mode and tried restoring it. It was up to date on iOS8, and my iTunes is 12.1.0.5. Now it will not let me restore anything to the phone because the error comes up before it finishes. All help is appreciated!
