Lacie external hard drive not showing on desktop?

I have a 2009 macbook pro 2.4 intel duo with 8mb ram updated with Yosemite.

Cant seem to get the lacie d2 safe drive showing on the desktop - tried with 800 & 400 firewire also usb without success. other peripherals seem ok when plugged in.

Not sure of any driver set ups but have installed some updates from the Lacie site.

Before Yosemite the drive showed up when plugged in with no problems.

Any help with set up or where to look would be most appreciated.

Have only limited knowledge of mac systems.
