Screen / internal display broken on MBP; what do I do?
So I have a pretty big issue on my MBP. The computer is 6 months old and something happened with the display where it looks like someone punched it from the inside.
I took it to the Genuis bar and the guy there told me that he couldn't replace it for free because it was definitely user damage. He said most likely something fell on top of it. To replace the display, it would require work plus I'd have to pay out of pocket for that expense.
The "damaged" area
The thing is, that would be fine, except I have done nothing to that computer to damage it. It's a laptop, but I work from a desk all day. If I am watching a movie or something, I'll put it on a surface, but I usually just watch movies on my TV. There is a hard case covering the outside and bottom of the laptop, and if I travel with my computer, it goes in a zippered case. There is not even a scratch on my computer.
My question to y'all is, *** do I do now? I know that I didn't drop anything on it. If I did, there would be external as well as internal damage, right?
It's not even about the $430 to fix the screen, it's about the principal that I've done nothing but treat this thing like a king. I had a MBP before this that lasted me 6 years. I treated it like crap; I didn't want to do the same to this one (even though my last one was so durable).
I'm also confused because once I spilled beer on my keyboard (this was on my old MBP a few years ago) and they replaced the keyboard for free, no questions asked. I can foresee so many problems with this computer. The display takes 30-60 seconds to wake up if the screen goes black already. It was an annoyance, but I thought not worth complaining about. This is just getting out of control. I bought it refurbished from Apple, but I'm starting to have buyer's remorse.
I don't get it!
Help me please! 😟
