Send messages with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

screen shot your text and then email it to yourself.

Are you intending to cc: yourself? Or do you mean something else?

    Are you keeping a log?

If the person you are trying to iMessage isn’t on (Apple to Apple) - yes it will roll over to their email.

If you want to go to email as your ultimate intent, why iMessage in the first place?

IF you know their carrier & the carrier SMS address, you can also use that to text to from your desktop or mobile email address (one direction only). Not all providers may allow it if the destination number has less than full text access set up in their phone plan.

I would think you could enter your own email in the above scenario as well - and get an email copy of what you said.

Otherwise - yeah, send yourself a screenshot.

I Was trying to clear the text off my messages but wanted to save the content of the messages to my email folder I have for my husbands ex wife. Child issues and sometimes keeping everything in writing is best. Thanks for the reply. She and I both have iPhones just different carriers. Seems that Apple would give the option to forward to an email like you can forward a text especially if it's your own email.

Try "texting" a message to your email address.  Send it just as if you were sending it to a telephone number.  Instead of entering a phone number, enter your email address.
