Q: Very disturbing: Why is my mac talking to my iphone?

For some reason (this is subject to another conversation) my iPhone never works properly on my work WiFi. It's too annoying to constantly turn WiFi on and off so i told the iPhone to "forget" the WiFi network.  Somehow, by some nefarious madness, this ALSO caused my laptop to forget the network. I tested it several times and it seems that, sweet jesus, these things are talking to each other and sharing settings!!!!??? Why is this allowed to happen? Why in the name of god would anyone want this?  How do I stop this?
