Says ALL retina display models should be able to use Handoff.

whats the "model number" not name

I only see Model Identifier.  It's MacBookPro10,1

what did you do  to fix it? can't pair fone  6S to mac 27"late 2009 El Capitan     or use airdrop...

1. As has been already said in this thread, you cannot pair an iPhone to a computer. Neither Continuity, HandOff, nor AirDrop require pairing.

2.  Your 2009 computer is too old to use AirDrop with iOS devices.

To send items to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you need a 2012 or newer Mac model with OS X Yosemite or later, excluding the Mac Pro (Mid 2012).

TThanks. As we no longer have bump, is there a quick way to send pics from iPhone 6s to old Mac ?

There are several ways to get pictures onto the Mac.

1. Plug it in and use Image Capture, or iPhoto to import the photos into the computer:

     Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support

2. Send yourself an Email with the photo from the iPhone to an account that is setup on the Mac.

3. Use an App.

It works quite well. And you don't need to install anything on the Mac.
