Feb 6, 2015 1:38 AM in response to bigskypc50by lllaass,Just the wear on the monitor and hard drive. I myself let mine either sleep (has rotating hard drive) or Power Nap (has sold state disk). and have the Mac set up to turn off the monitor. Startup is very fast from Sleep or Power Nap.

Feb 6, 2015 6:06 AM in response to bigskypc50by ishrugged,I'm also a newbie.
An added thought which you've probably already considered -- the mini will do tasks, such as back up using time machine, update etc.., while sleeping or idle. If you don't have an uninterruptible power supply and the power goes out....
I hooked up my existing UPS to the mini and am now able to control its settings through the mini -- system preferences >> energy saver
The settings appeared upon UPS connection; no software required.
