Q: Drummer for Jazz?

Can Drummer do any standard swing tracks at all? I've experimented with the Swing dial on various drummers but the beats are just too square. I see that Apple released new hip hop drummer which is great if you're into that music but what about bebop and swing or even free jazz?

thanks

No.. not really.....but let's hope one will be added at a future time....

A request via the feedback form probably wouldn't be a bad move either....

Have you been through the Apple loops ?

There's a bunch of hot jazz rythem ideas in there.

With Jazz in the search field, I get 290 hits.

Most of them are green (midi) loops so you can clip out small chunks of what you like.

I'm clearly missing some loops then. I only see 9 (audio) jazz related loops

Hi I know that this is a feb post but thought I might ad a thing.

Logic drummer has an ability to follow the instrument of your choice. If you play with a swing it will follow. I just simplify the drums down to just the ride then record to the tempo then ad drums back in when I have the groove.

They should add some jazz drummers though.

    Best

Yeah, I totally agree that this is a much-needed feature and thankz for submitting a request, I will follow suit.

Addictive Drums do the best jazz loops in my view but the outlay is high. I'm certainly gonna investigate the Apple midi-loops mentioned above.

LPX's Drummer doesn't really do Jazz. The 'Follow' feature is great - it locks the BD & SD to a source on another track to tighten the feel - this great for Rock-type music. With Jazz drums, however, the feel is mostly generated by the HiHat and Cymbals, the BD & SD are mostly used for expressive punctuations etc. So the 'Follow'  really just generates the sound of a Rock drummer attempting to play Jazz - not ideal.

It would be nice if Apple brought out a Drummer version in which you select the HiHat and Cymbals to follow another source. Meanwhile I use midi jazz grooves in other VIs to simulate Jazz drums (BFD3).
