You have the oldest iPhone that will accept iOS 8. It also has the smallest storage of any iPhone running iOS 8.
Why did you not upgrade to iOS 7 sometime during the year it was available? If you did, it would not be such a huge jump to iOS 8 (from iOS 7 as it will be from iOS 6).

As the previous poster states - iOS 8 is larger and more complex than iOS 6 - you may find at least initially that there is some degradation of the performance and a greater strain on your battery.
