Q: Safari is slow and "other" in storage

Safari is painfully slow on my iMac, I have tried the usual steps, resetting safari, cleaning the cache, setting the network to open DNS, reversing the DNS order, nothing has resolved the issue. Chrome still zips along just fine however.

I also noticed that my computer's space now has a big chunk being occupied by "other" (400GB). I don't know when this happened, or if the explosion of other is related to my safari issues.  I downloaded and installed Oynx in an attempt to clean up the hard drive but it only cleared up a few GBs.

Any help on either issue would be appreciated, thanks!

Just as an update, no luck with any of those suggestions. I did delete and reinstall Safari (which I didn't realize until after that that involved reinstalling the ENTIRE OS, but oh well...). That did make a difference, its not back up to full speed, still noticeably slower than chrome, but its quite a bit better than it was before at least.
