Finder and Stornext SAN

When attached to a Stornext SAN, navigating thorough the directory can sometimes cause the machine to lock up and in most cases, take an extremely long time to show the contents of the directory. After numerous checks on the metadata network and SAN, we have come up with no solution to the issue. Has anyone else had this issue? All the clients are 8gb fiber attached with and connected over 1gb Ethernet for the metadata network, they are running OSX 10.9.5 and are the new (2013) mac pros. It would be good to see if anyone has had the same issue, and if so, how they resolved it.
