Q: Notification Badge on message app won't go away

Hello,

on my messages app I have a badge for an unread message. The problem is that I already deleted this message but the badge still remains visible. Can I somehow reset the badge counter?

I use OS X 10.10.2

Thx for your help!

Regards,

Ben

    Hi,

The only issue with that is the Mac does not have Siri

For me, the killall Dock, or killing dock in the activity monitor didn't help on 10.11.4. However, quit iMessage and then quit "soagent". If you can't find it, open the terminal and write:

    ps -A |grep -i message

Here you will see (amongst others):

    (standard input):  416 ??         1:36.63 /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MessagesKit.framework/Resources/soagent.app/C ontents/MacOS/soagent

Then kill it directly by typing:

    kill -9 416

In this case, 416 is the PID of my process, yours might be different. You should see the badge disappearing when you ran the command.

This was very helpful, thank you. I did have to lookup how to go about quitting the dock through terminal and thought it would be helpful for someone like me to have the command so I'm adding it here:

    "killall -KILL Dock"
