Q: How do I remove the GoPro Studio Importer menu bar icon?

Yosemite 10.10.2

I installed the studio app a few days ago and the menu bar icon is in the menu bar on my desktop.Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 9.59.08 AM.png

I hate the menu icon being there all the time and I cannot remove it. I've already went into the System Preferences and it doesn't show up in the Log In items, and I unchecked it to not show up in the status menu, and yet, it is still there.

Any help is appreciated.

    Well, to all of you:

Mavericks: unchecking the import automatically in the GoPro studio preferences did nothing to the menubar icon.

Command-dragging the icon off the menu bar does not work.

If I stick *any* SD card into my universal USB connected card reader, GoPro Importer pops up and starts importing, I seem to have no choice!

There is no process active that I can see.  But something must be watching that a card is inserted, then awakens GoPro Importer.

How can I get rid of that connection?  Image Capture has no preferences.  System Preferences no longer has a pane to choose what happens if discs are inserted.

    Sigh.

You could also use a programm like Bartender to just get rid of the Icon.

If you disable the Option via the GoPro Studio Prefrences, does the automatic import still work if you connect your GoPro tu the USB? I guess not (but i will try out tomorrow ...)

It would be nice to have the Option to just turn of the Menu Bar Icon like other Apps allow you to do. But they are made by App developers that follow best practice and design guidelines while programming for Mac OS. 2 Things you can't say about the GoPro Studio app. It looks ugly and outdated and feels awkward ...

    But that's a GoPro Problem i guess ...

Have a good Day / Night

This worked perfectly, and when others say just drag it to the desktop, they are wrong. THANK you very much.

I had this issue too and tried everything listed here which didn't seem to work. Looks like when you first install the software if you answer No to using GoPro Studio to import photos the icon is placed in the tray but the option in preferences is deselected. So selecting the option and then de-selecting worked in my case. Very annoying.

Running El Capitan 10.11.2 now and I've unchecked "Automatically import from GoPro cameras." It doesn't work. I've uninstalled, re-installed, and restarted the machine - still no solution.

Have you tried enabeling the option in preferences to use the GoPro Studio to import, and then disabling the option?

I had the same problem. Opening GoPro Studio>Preferences>UNCHECK import automatically. This IS the solution. If this isn't working for you, do the following: Using a utility like ONYX, repair your permissions, and then restart your computer. Repeat the process, making sure to close the pref window after unchecking "Automatically Import from GoPro Cameras". Normal Mac conventions like command-dragging, or third party utilities won't work to remove this icon. I has to be done through the GoPro Studio app>preferences.
