Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you are having trouble creating an iCloud backup. What are the warning messages you keep getting? I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

If you are still not able to create an iCloud backup, you could create an iTunes backup.

Mar 24, 2015 9:36 AM in response to mario49by AuburnTigersFan,I get the same messages, reminding me I need to back up my iPad to iCloud. But no matter how many times I have it plugged in, connected to wifi and locked, it won't back up. When I try to back up manually, it acts as if it's backing up but hours later it says the backup can't be completed. I even bought more space on iCloud thinking that was the issue and now I have 20 gigs of space and 16 of them are available. And still no backup.
