Can I get system information after wiping clean without setting up new account?

i went to the Genius Bar and had my 2006 iMac wiped clean - the guy there told me I could still get all the system info I needed to resell, but when I turn the computer on, it's asking me to set up an account, which is rather not do. Is there a way to get system info without going through this process, or am I stuck? Thanks!

OK thanks. You can extract that information from system_profiler insingle user mode: restart your Mac while holding down the and S keys at the same time until the screen stops at a text prompt.

For example,

operating system:

system_profiler SPSoftwareDataType

hardware information:

system_profiler SPHardwareDataType

memory:

system_profiler SPMemoryDataType

Commands are case-sensitive.

For all the other information you can extract with it,

system_profiler -help

To exit single user mode, type exit or just shut down the Mac.
