Jun 24, 2015 1:54 PM in response to DustyStormby The Server Surfer,Having the same issue with a refurb 3rd-gen I just got today. I initially connected it with an Ethernet cable before I'd even plugged it in, but it booted up asking me to either choose a WiFi network or connect to Ethernet. I was confused, since it was connected to Ethernet. I inadvertently ended up skipping that step, and it continued starting up with no network connection at all. When I went in to the Network settings, it told me to either choose a WiFi network, or to connect an Ethernet cable. I tried replugging the cable at both ends. My switch shows no activity on that port. I moved it from the switch to the nearby, bridging Base Station. I restarted that switch and both of my Base Stations. Plugging the same cable in to my 2012 MBP establishes an Ethernet connection almost immediately.
WiFi seems to work just fine, but Ethernet doesn't work at all. It's like it's not even plugged in.
