kAirPort showed up on my internet icon. What is it?
kAirPort showed up on my internet icon at the top of my monitor. What is it? I didn't download it. I've never heard of it. How do I get rid of it?

The same thing happened to me a few minutes ago. I woke my Mac Pro (2010) running Mavericks and I had no internet. The wifi icon said Kairportstatusscanning or something to that effect and then my entire system froze. Force quit did nothing and I wasn't able to select restart or shutdown from the file menu. I powered down and restarted manually and it's working now but I'd still like to know why this happened as I don't like to force the machine to power down.
