Turn Off Automatic Text Wrap in Pages?

It's far from the biggest flaw in Pages, but is there any way of making "no text wrap" the default for inserted objects rather than "Automatic"? Due to the nature of the materials I produce I almost never want text wrap, yet every time I insert an object I have to make a trip to the Inspector, click the "Arrange" button, select the drop down menu and select "None". Surely there must be some way - a preference option I've missed - of obviating this time-wasting process.

Thanks Peter. That's what I feared. And what a pain in the tonsils it is. Wouldn't it be good if Apple could come up with some technology that would allow users to obviate this inconvenience by something in the software that would allow us to apply a - let's call it a "preference" - to how text wraps on a default basis?

Is it really too much to ask that I have software that lets me do what I want to do, rather than telling me what I ought to be doing?

That's a rhetorical question

Sort of yes and no. I'm sure you're right in what you say. I still have Pages '09 so I can continue to work with it, but it won't sync across my platforms the way that Pages 5 does. Also it's clear that Apple is no longer supporting Pages '09 as it did - they see Pages 5 as the future. I just hoped that Pages 5 might have some way of dealing with this issue

Apple is not even supporting Pages 5 as it did, so good luck with that.

Pages 5.5.2 only works on Yosemite.

Pages '09 works on everything from Snow Leopard to Yosemite.

Then there is the little matter of functionality, Pages 5.5.2 is still missing over 100 features that are in Pages '09 and Apple keeps changing its file format. Try synching that, let alone even moving files, across even 2 versions of OS X let alone iOS 7 or PCs.

Wishin' 'n Prayin' hasn't got users very far with Pages 5, and it has been out now 16 months.
