Creating table of contents, etc.

I'm new to ibooks and trying to create my first book. It's a novel, nothing fancy, no images or video, just 22 chapters of text. I converted a .pages file to an .epub file and imported that into ibooks. I want to create a table of contents so when someone clicks on say Chapter Seven they go straight to that chapter but can't figure out how to do this. I also noticed in the panels on the left side of the ibooks screen that say Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc., the text/epub I imported into ibooks does not align properly with the ibooks chapters (i.e., my epub Chapter Three is not Chapter 3 in those panels). Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you. Lyle
