Q: I have a MacBook Pro, trouble with apple tv connecting

I have a mid 2010  mac book pro and it has OSX Yosemite and I got apple tv as a present and have ben trying to get it to connect/mirror with apple tv and nothing is showing up and I would really like to be able to do this.

So if anyone else has had this problem please let me know, or if you know the solution that would be awesome!

    If you are wanting to use AirPlay between a Mac and an Apple TV, then the Mac needs to be in the supported list below.  Since you have a 2010 model, AirPlay is not supported.

     

    AirPlay Mirroring in OS X takes advantage of the hardware capabilities of recent Macs to deliver high frame rates while maintaining optimal system performance. The following Mac models support AirPlay Mirroring when using OS X Mountain Lion or later:

    • iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
    • Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
    • MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
    • MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
    • Mac Pro (Late 2013 or newer)
