Q: iOS 8.1.3 won't update on iPad Air

If I understand your question, you have downloaded the iOS 8.1.3 software update, but it won't actually install, is that right?

I have a few things for you to try below, but it's always a good idea to back up your device before making significant changes to it.  Here's how:

It may be possible that there is not enough available storage space on your iPad Air to install the update.  Check out the information below regarding how to manage the data that is stored on your iPad and free up space.

If your device is near its capacity or you get an alert that your storage is full, you can remove some of your less used content to make room for more.

View storage usage on your iOS device

Tap Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage to see the amount of space each app and its content takes on your device.

Tap an app for more detailed information about its usage.

Depending on the app, you might be able to delete some of the app's content, or delete the app and all of its content.

After you have removed some data and increased the amount of available storage on your iPad, try updating the iOS Software again.  You should see the blue Install link shown below:

1. Plug in your device to a power source.
2. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
3. Tap Download and Install. Updates might download automatically while your device is connected to Wi-Fi and a power source.
4. Tap Install.  If you use a passcode, you'll need to enter it before installing the update.
