Yosemite has lost Preview thumbnails?

Since updating to Yosemite I have not been able to view the thumbnails (pages) when using Preview. Which means I can't reorder pages, for example. Is anyone else having this problem?

Viewing the same pdfs in Adobe Reader displays the thumbnails without problem. Also have tried this with many different types of pdfs, including ones that I have generated myself and from other sources.

I have the same OS and Preview. Thumbnails for PDFs work as usual on my machine.

What happens when you try to view the thumbnails (when you select thumbnails from the little drop down menu, or from the View menu)?

Does this problem persist when logged in as a different user, e.g., Guest?

Does this problem persist when starting up in Safe Mode?

Hello and thanks for the reply. As another user (new account set up just for this test) I get the same problem. I'm having some trouble getting a reboot in safe mode so I'm not sure about that right now.
