Q: Wifi - strong RSSI, low noise, but low Tx Rate with 1 out of 2 Macs

Hi

I have a retina MBP and it has a very poor network connection. I've brought a Mac Book Air to do some tests, and everything is fine with the Mac Book Air

On the MBP, with the built-in diagnostics tool for the Wifi, I can see:

* Strong RSSI: -60 dBm

* Low noise: -90 dBM

* But low Tx Rate: 1 Mbps

On the Mac Book Air the Tx Rate is easily 24 Mbps at the exact same location.

I started having Wifi issues with the release of Yosemite. At that time I did not used the diagnostic tools because I saw on the forums that it was a common issue with MPB and Yosemite. I waited for the 1st Yosemite patch a month later: it did not solve the problem. I waited for yet another patch: the problem is still there. I purchased an adaptor to connect via RJ45 and it works fine.

I tried many things with the router, which is a standard ADSL/Wifi router, and since it works with the Mac Book Air, I believe the issue is with the Mac Book Pro. It's up to date with Yosemite 10.10.2. My wifi network works well with my wife's PC and with my iPhone. I tried switching off the bluetooth, but it did not help. I tried deleting as much as I can in the configuration, but it did not help. I deleted /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration but it did not help either.

My laptop is almost useless without the network connection, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), null
