Can not install OS X on new HDD
Situation:
macbook unibody 13",2009 with original 160GB HDD drive with installed Leopard, works perfectly
Now i've got a 500 GB drive from a friend's MAcbook Pro and i want to replace the 160GB drive with this one. Both drives work fine. After installation of the new drive, i can even see the installation of my friends Macbook, but i want to start fresh, so i format the drive with use of my Snowleopard DVD.
The trouble begins: what i try, i can't install. During installation the machine says i have to reboot, and then continues, ending in an error message that the installation can not be completed.I tried this several time, all with no luck. Even after consecutive formattaing of the drive (MAc OS journalled, GUID). Then i tried to install Snowleopard from a USB drive...still no luck..
I put back the old original 160GB drive..everyhting works fine...
Next step: go to an Authorised reseller.. they tried it themselves..no luck.
so...can it be the drive? (although it was tested, also on a windows machine with Seatools etc..)
The store took out a new drive.....
no luck..installation stops around 25-60%...
They say it might be the datacable from the drive to the motherboard..but if this is the case...why is my original drive still functioning?
MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6)
