i have recently discovered that i have not received texts from iphones. based upon another apple discussion community help, i have followed the steps given in If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.
i have not been successful finding a solution.
now i notice that the only numbers in my contacts list that show text capability are iphone numbers. however, i had a non-iphone friend send and receive a text message: no problem.
following the instructions from the apple support guide above, i discovered (if i remember correctly now) that imessage and send as sms were off. i have turned them on, turned them off, turned them on; completely shut off my phone; signed out and in of imessage and facetime; and reset my network settings. nothing has helped.
i have a 4s and am running ios 7.1.2 because i don't want to upgrade my ios until i get a new phone.
my carrier is verizon.
i use my wifi as much as possible. my phone shows 3 bars and my imac shows my wifi working full steam.
do any of you understand my problem? this seems to have happened without my changing anything that i can remember.
