Can the older 27" LED Apple Cinema Display work with new MacBook Pro

I have a mid 2009 MacBook Pro with a refurbished 27" LED Cinema Display. Need to upgrade the MB Pro- will a new MacBook Pro connect to this older display? I saw an older post for a Mac Pro in early 2014. Is this true for the newest MacBook Pro?

Yes. Just plug it into the computer’s Thunderbolt port.
