Does airdrop work for anyone?

Does airdrop work for anyone?

I have 4 macs. An old 24", a 27", a 21" and a mac mini (server). I use an iPhone 5s and an iPad Mini (2).

I have never, ever, gotten Airdrop to work on any device or desktop. I tried again today as I had a video on my phone that was too large to email. Nope.

I am genuinely curious? Are their people who have gotten Airdrop to work?? I asked a friend today when I was frustrated by my video experience, and she said she had never been able to use it either. If you have gotten it to work, what magic did you do? Or did it just work for you from the get go?

Also, are there others like me?

Thanks,

Ryan

Airdrop works between iOS devices and between OS X devices. Airdrop between OS X and iOS requires BlueTooth 4 on both platforms. Thus, it won't work with older iPhone/iPads or with older Macs. This is a hardware limitation. See the System Requirements section of this article: Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices - Apple Support
