Sprint gave me the unlock code. Where do I put it in?

I am moving an iphone 5 from Sprint to ATT.

When I put in the ATT sim card, it said that the phone needed to be unlocked and that I should put in the Sprint sim.

When I put in the Sprint sim, the phone works fine, but what do I need to enter the unlock code. Sprint said that they do not do that, they just give the code.

That is a scam

I used to have Sprint

iPhones are not unlocked with a code

Sprint needs to communicate with Apple and then when one restores as new from iTunes the unlock flag is sent to the phone

Sprint usually never unlocks phones for domestic use with another carrier - only short term for international use

Back up your phone to iTunes and then restore as new

If truly unlocked you will see the "Congratulations" your phone is unlocked message

Just to be clear, when a carrier does unlock an iPhone 5, 5S, 6, 6+, there is no need to restore. Just insert the other carriers SIM. The phone will appear to reboot by going to the white screen with the Apple logo for a few seconds then come back to the lock screen. It will then prompt for the iCloud ID and password. Once entered, the phone is now unlocked and will work with the new SIM.

I have T-Mobile and they unlocked my 5S and 6+ and inserting an AT&T sim worked this way.

I would not have made that statement had it not been true. The email you receive from AT&T after the authorization and completion of an unlock instructs the user to restore the device as new to complete the unlock process.

Apple's support document even states to restore the device. How to unlock your iPhone for use with another carrier - Apple Support

Unlock your iPhone

First, your carrier will need to process your unlock request. Then you'll back up, erase, and restore your iPhone to unlock it.

Guess it's carrier specific then. I did not have to restore my phone whatsoever to unlock it on T-Mobile.

Actually I was correct since I had a different carriers sim:

If you have a SIM card from a carrier other than your current carrier, follow these steps:

  1. Remove your SIM card and insert the new SIM card.
  2. Complete the setup process.

Says nothing restoring there. It is only if you don't have another carriers sim then you should restore.
