Q: Thunderbolt Display won't turn on at boot up

Upgraded to Yosemite, and now my Thunderbolt display won't turn on until after I have logged in.

This is a massive pain as my MBP is mostly kept behind my display, and I have to reach over and type log in details.

Anyone got any ideas or is this just another 'feature' of the disaster that is Yosemite?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Similar, Macbook 10.10.5, thunderbolt display.most of the time I can unplug everything, boot laptop, then replug display, Ex HDs and the display turns on.
But, the connecting display/electric cable from the Display went out a year ago.  I have to connect using a USB into the laptop.Of course, this issue began about 2 weeks after the extended warranty ended.  I still went to see a Genius and they scratched their head over it with no solution.  WHen I told them this seems to be a wide spread issue, they said they weren't aware.  Now I'm having to use a $100 P.O.S. Dell monitor, but it works. I've lost faith in the $1k + Apple monitors, but would be interested if anyone has found a solution.  I found this a while back

"This is a very common problem, it is most likely a bad power block. Different users have had varying degrees of success in getting help from apple (see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1135625&tstart=105). You can buy a new power block at fastmac.com for $130, but it might not fix the problem in the long term. Apple should issue a recall for this, but so far they have not addressed the problem. The block cannot be bought at the apple store"
