Q: airdrop from iPhone 6 to MB pro late 2011 not working

Folks,

this is really putting sand in my speedo. I have my OS updated on my iPhone and Macbook Pro 17" late 2011 and am simply not able to see my computer from my iPhone. I can see see my Mac pro tower form my MB pro, I am on the same wifi network, it should be easy as riding a dolphin to paradise no?

Please help. I am clearly in need of desperate help and I'm afraid this basic issue is causing me brain decay.

It’s not supposed to. A pre-2012 Mac can’t use AirDrop with an iOS device, but can with other Macs.
