Invitations are being sent and received, but the friends are not showing up on the map. The app says that the request is pending even after accepting.

We have changed our contacts so that everything matches up correctly, but we still cannot see the friends on our map. We have uninstalled and re-installed, shut off and turned back on, made sure each device is sharing the location, and everything else that the troubleshoot page recommended and nothing has worked so far. What else is there to try?
