I just upgraded my old iphone 4 and would like to activate it as another line...reset it to get rid of old contacts...now it says i need a sim card which this phone doesnt have...what can i do to activate this phone?

A sim card is needed to activate an iphone. You get a sim card from your phone carrier.
i was told the old iphone 4 cdma does not have a sim card and doesnt have a place for it?
This is on the verizon network and worked fine till I factory reset it...do I need a sim card to activate the phone even though there is no spot on the phone for it?
I don't know Verizon procedure, best to call them to activate your phone.

Wrong. A Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 does not use a SIM and has no place to insert one.

This is an issue on the Verizon/Apple end; due to an error in configuring Verizon activation records when you attempt to activate a Verizon iPhone 4 you will get this error. You need to call Apple and describe the problem; the tech reps will have to escalate your issue.
