Should I upgrade to Yosemite before Aperture will no longer be downloadable on the App Store?

I'm using Aperture on Mavericks and plan to continue to use it as long as possible before migrating to something else. Now it has been said that Aperture will no longer be downloadable from the App Store as soon as Photos is released along with the next version of Yosemite (10.10.3?).

Does that also mean, that any update to Aperture 3.6 won't be possible after that? In other words, could it be that I'm stuck with 3.5 and therefore can't upgrade to Yosemite if I don't do it now, before the release of Photos/10.10.3?

I wanted to wait a little with Yosemite because of all the issues and also because I don't like the design changes.

Mac Pro (Mid 2010), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), null

Well, this doesn't really answer my question.

I would like to know if I need to upgrade to Yosemite + Aperture 3.6 NOW because the 3.6 update may be pulled once the application is no longer offered on the app store, which will be the case as soon as Photos will be released, which may just be in a couple of months.

I imagine a scenario where I upgrade to Yosemite later this year and by then I can't upgrade to 3.6 and therefore can't open my library anymore.

We cannot answer. Only Apple knows, when versions will be pulled.

I you want Aperture 3.6 get it now.

You could (and should) make a full backup of your system, so you could revert easily, if you do not like Aperture 3.6 and Yosemite.
