Is there anything I can do to resolve get my iPod off of the white screen?

My iPod nano is being detected by the computer and my iTunes but when ever I plug it in, the iPod home screen itself does not show up. It just turns on and becomes white and does not move. Is there anything I can do to resolve the problem? It is the 6th generation iPod (square touchscreen with the clip on the back)
