I thought I deauthorised all my computers but when I tried to authorise a new laptop it said I still had 5 computers authorised and that I would have to wait until Nov 2015 to deauthorise them again.

"After you authorize 2 computers, you'll have the option to deauthorize all computers for your Apple ID. You can deauthorize all computers once per year." You did reauthorize all your computers in nov 2014, so you need to wait an additional 9 months to do the again
Click here and ask the iTunes Store staff for assistance. Only they can perform a second Deauthorize All within the yearly period.

I haven't got 5 computers on the system. I have 2 laptops and 1 desktop.
I had to throw one laptop away a month ago as it developed motherboard trouble and it couldn't even be turned on. I have sync tunes on my phone. Is there any way that itunes can check how many computers are authorised?
