I did see the font, and clicked "File > Validate Font." It returned with no errors or warnings at all.

ApplicationsHi,
So you can access the Preferences and the Account and the iMessages account just not the Details button as it is not getting as far as logging in.
Is the Details Button actually there ? (that would suggest the account is logged in)
If the iMessages account just shows the Apple ID and Password lines then it is not.
Is this linked to an iPhone ?
Does that have the Old Apple ID still listed ?
Any other iOS device ?
In ~/Library/Preferences remove all items that have IDS in them.
Then Restart the Messages app.

Feb 11, 2015 2:53 PM in response to Ralph Johns (UK)by GoingCommando18,The button's not there. It's not logged in.
It's not linked to any iOS device, I have an Android phone so there's not even a possibility.
Deleted all IDS files, still nothing. They repopulated rather quickly though. I looked at the first .plist you told me to delete in the beginning, and it looks like it's trying to login under the new/correct username.

ApplicationsHi,
This is very odd.
Try deleting the com.apple.imessages.bag.plist (This one holds the server info)
It is in the same place as the madrid one.

ApplicationsHi,
In that case Contact Apple Support.
You will probably (certainly) has to ask to speak to a Level 2 person.
Level ones tend to be Script led and try to fit everything into a Software or hardware issue which requires you have AppleCare or pay.
However this is most likely and Apple ID/Account issue that are sorted for free.
It is likely you will have to jump through the same hoops again but they should check the Apple ID at the iMessages server (prompt them)
