downloaded the new itunes 7.0.1.8 and i am having problems with video playback. i have over 40 gigs worth of videos in my itunes library and the video, not the audio (the audio and songs play fine), but the video stutters. almost like they are being played at 5 fps. its hard to watch cause its skipping around so much. i can play them fine through quicktime perfectly fine and its great but i dont want to have to brows through my folders to watch a movie or a music video through quicktime. i want the convience of using itunes to watch my videos. itunes v6 was soo much better than v7, what happened to apple?! any tips for me to try?! THANKS!
why cant apple fix the problem. i know its not my computer cause the videos play fine in any other media player i use. its only itunes that doesnt play it right. this is so aggrivating. i hope the new itunes release (whenever that is) fixes this problem.
I'm also having similar problems (audio becomes unsync'd and often playback begins stuttering), but found a work-around. In my case these are video podcasts, so here's what I've been doing. Right-click the podcast and select "Show in Windows Explorer." The file will be highlighted so double-click it to have it played by QuickTime. Some file types may not be registered with QT, so if you get prompted to pick the program to use with the file, select the QuickTime Player.
For some strange reason, the videos play back perfectly OUTSIDE of iTunes 7.0.1.8 (also happened in 7.0). So I don't think it's any of the pat answers that ignore iTunes as a culprit.
I finally became too frustrated with the new version and downgraded to itunes 6.0.5 which solved my problem. The only thing I'll say to those thinking about doing this that when I itunes 6 and quicktime 7 I was having the same problem again. In the troubleshooting tips they tell you to turn off directx in quicktime and disable direct 3d accleration. I went in and reenabled these in quicktime and it got rid of the problem.
