Why would you do that for? Water and electronic don't mix and your going to plug into the wall outlet..

Standard procedure it to power off the device and put it in a bag of uncooked rice for 5 to 7 days.

Other wise you can purchase an out of warranty iphone at the Apple store.

Out-of-warranty repair service
If your repair isn’t covered by Apple’s One Year Limited Warranty, AppleCare+, or AppleCare Protection Plan, your iPhone might be eligible for out-of-warranty service. For example, liquid damage isn’t covered by warranty but might be eligible for out-of-warranty service. Some damage isn’t eligible at all, for example if your device has been broken into multiple pieces. See Apple’s Repair Terms and Conditions for complete details.

I would be willing to bet that since you hooked it up to the charger that you have finished the damage the water started. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store and be prepared for purchasing an out of warranty replacement. Since you do not indicate the model of iPhone you have, the prices range from $149 - $329, depending on the model.
