Q: I can't hear or be heard during a call on my iPhone 5s

iPhone 5s running IOS 8.1.3. Other than this phone seems to work. Dials the call and connects. Just can't communicate. Can't hear or be heard.

Hey there RJOBoston,

Take a look the article below, it provides troubleshooting tips that should resolve the issue you’re running into with not being able to hear or be heard on calls.
If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound quality is poor on iPhone - Apple Support
