deleted photos keep reappearing - i want them gone!

I have an iMac, MacBookAir, iPhone, and iPad. They all share photos via iCloud. Deleted photos re-appear (particularly on iMac), presumably being downloaded from iCloud. How can I get rid of photos I want to delete permanently?

Hello charleyfoxtrot,

If your deleted photos are reappearing in iPhoto, you may have it set to automatically import (or in this case, reimport) photos from My Photo Stream in iCloud. You may want to turn off this function in iPhoto, and/or delete the photos from My Photo Stream directly, as described on the following page:

Delete photos from My Photo Stream - iCloud Help

Sincerely,

- Brenden

We need detail to do other than just make guesses

What version of iphoto and of the OS? Where are these photos reappearing - in MyPhotoStream, shared PhotoStreams or events? Exactly step by step how are you deleting them and from where? What has changed since it worked correctly?

Actually latest is not a version - you would be shocked at what people claim is the latest - it helps to have the version number - and again we need to know how you are deleting photos and from where

since something is not working we need the details requested to help figure out what is going wrong

The correct way to delete photos is to select them in an event and press the delete key (or drag to the iphoto trash) and then empty th epithet trash ad the system trash - do not merge or organize events before emptying the iPhoto trash

photos reappear in iPhoto on iMac and MacBook air

explain please - when a photo "re=appears" are you saying it re-appears on both machines? or that both machines exhibit the same behavior with different photos?

When do the photo re-appear? Instantly? later? after a restart? ???

You can try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

deleting individual photos in iphoto by selecting photo and pressing delete then emptying iPhoto trash

Did you confirm that they were in the iPhoto Trash before emptying? From where in iPhoto are you deleting these photos from: an Event, an album or project? The method you posted is what is necessary from an Event. If the photos were deleted from an album they would still be in the library.

So pressing the button which says, would you like to delete all photos that you have just imported off your phone is incorrect? Silly me

That has nothing to do with this thread in any way and, although not recommended and a good way to lose phots, is certainly a valid way to delete photos off of a device yeah imports from

If you have a question please start a new thread - do not thread jack an existing thread about a totally different question
