Q: wheel of death

Hello Everyone.

Have this rainbow wheel problem.

I love my iMac, however its not very well. I use my imac  for a couple of core tasks only .. so its not full of Apps and other software. I am so careful in what I download. I dont like clutter on a computer.

Started to have the spinning wheel problem aout 2 months ago.

I am not computer  wizard.

Does this Etre Check saying anything.  Have read other posts and followed re-sitting of pram, repair disk and permissions. Others are telling me by disk is about to fail?  The computer is only 2 years old.

Would welcome any thoughts.

Thanks

Shaun

I just  found it under Applications/utilities.

My "memory pressure" is a yellow bar straight across. Does that mean I am approaching limits of usage?  How do i reduce memory? Get rid of apps? Get rid of files?  All of the above?

This morning my iMac is flying.  Ok, have had the spinning wheel once and that was only for second. No hangs.

Whether the re-installing of the OS X  has played a part, well?    I wish now I did a clean install  because I may be wrong here, the built in recovery disk does not erase. The reason I say this when my iMac powered up after the reinstalling all my data was there. I didn't need my back up.  Could be totally wrong here.

Also went into System Preferences  - Energy Saver  - removed the tick from - putting to hard disk when possible.

I thought I give it ago anyway.  May be more in hope.

So today I am not convinced it is my hard disk on the way out.  This all started after the last two updates to Yosemite.

So I will see what happens in the days ahead. Thought some who are following may be interested.

    Shaun
