Q: Error 7-followed the fix and still can't get in.

I am a complete novice and find I'm just going round in circles. I follow the procedure for removing and reloading itunes but when I get to the installer I have no option to save, only to run. When I continue and get to the end I'm told that it hasn't downloaded properly. Done this numerous times and am totally fed up with the whole thing. All I did was to download an update and I've wasted a week of my life trying to retrieve it. To be honest, if I could I'd transfer my library elsewhere and give up on itunes.

    Hello DAVISON84,

That must be frustrating when you can't get iTunes installed correctly.

I understand you have removed and reloaded iTunes to get it to work.

Have you gone through the steps in the article for error 7?

    If not, please do.

    Best regards,

    Nubz

Thanks but I have tried the 'error 7' fix but when I have deleted everything and download the itune4s installer, I get no option to 'save' just 'run'. I don't know if this is important or just a symtom of something else I'm doing wrong. I seem to hit a different problem each time when I think everything is ok, like 'installler didn't load properly@ asking if I have enough privileges for the apple mobile device. Most recent was error 7 windows error 193. The worst is itunes has finished installing press next to continue, then I get the error message again. Completely baffled and very annoyed.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:

    • iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)

which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.

Or roll back to the previous build:

Success. I downloaded the older 12.1 and I'm back in. Your help was invaluable, thanks once again.
