Printing - The printer is in use

I have an HP Photosmart Wireless B109n-z multifunction printer. I used to be able to print to it. Now, when I queue a print job, I get this problemUser uploaded file

I have reset my printing system using that option in the preferences pane. I have deleted the print job and queued a different one. I have even ~gasp~ rebooted my Mac

I can use the HP utility to print a test page form the Mac. I can use the scanner side to scan documents on it and save to the Mac. I can see it from my router.

All suggestions received with gratitude

Interesting. I made the assumption when reconfiguring the printer that it would be able to choose its own options. Loads of frustrated research online showed this not to be the case. What I had to do, and had omitted to do, was to set the following field:

Yes, I left the others blank so you could see the field I found the answer deep in an HP help forum. The topic was a different printer, and here is what was said:

"If you go to the '+' symbol in the Printer & Scan settings and select the IP menu selection. At that point select the HP jetdirect setting under protocol. Set the address as the ip address shown on the HP printer located in the wifi settings on the LCD panel of the printer. Select Add at the bottom. At this point try to print( note all of this is done WITHOUT the printer connect VIA USB and the printer will appear as the IP address entered)"

The printer in the thread was a different Photosmart one, but it seemed worth trying it. When I added the printer initially it "chose" the Line Printer Daemon" entry for that field. Well, that serves me right for making assumptions. Now you don't have to.
