need help activating my apple tv- hooked up properly, status lightg on steady- just getting rolling pictures and cannot get over to Settings- cannot get a menu screen- getting instructions to go to settings- and cannnot do?

Are you using the supplied remote? When you use commands on the remote does the Apple TV light flash?
I have to go and only use the apple tv remote and point it at the apple tv. I can't use the universal remote when this happens. I also have had luck with hitting menu and then settings and then general and then back to menu and then hitting photos. It's like it resets itself. It is a pain.
my logitech harmony universal remote works fine
