I use AOL for mail. Since downloading Yosemite, I cannot send out mail. I receive it, but cannot send it...it sits in my Outbox and won't go out.

The Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): says my email address in parenthes (Offline). Don't I need that to be online before I can send out mail? If so, How do I get it on line.
May not work for everyone, but I was having this problem and all I had to do was change the default SMTP port back to 25. You get to that option by editing the mailbox and under the outgoing mail server options (drop down) choose "edit SMTP server list". Change the port to 25 and save changes.
